Many Dakota people see this as a sacred place of creation. The island where the rivers come together is Pike Island, which is part of the Fort Snelling State Park. Historic Fort Snelling sits on the bluffs overlooking the rivers.

Being close to MSP airport and State Park land getting the necessary permissions to fly a drone here can be a challenge. I started in on the paperwork about a month before this flight - we got lucky with some great clouds and no wind.
